Companies and federal organizations have developed programs to monitor and control gypsy moth populations in municipalities. Using integrated pest management guidelines, Mike's Tree Surgeons, Inc. develops programs unique to each municipality based on the results of an egg mass density survey. Data would be collected on egg mass size and health, tree species and diameter, as well as the determination of land use for each plot. Following the conclusion of the survey,recommendations would then be made on the management activities regarding gypsy moth population for the following spring.
